aquatic therapy

Available in Broadview Heights and Downtown locations

Using water to speed and maximize recovery enables patients to gain motion at a quick pace with less pain. Patients do not have to know how to swim to participate in aquatic physical therapy. Aquatic physical therapy is a great addition or alternative to traditional physical therapy. Many patients enjoy a new type of exercise and welcome the change from standard treatments.

Almost anyone can benefit from aquatic therapy as long as their medical condition allows. Water’s natural buoyancy allows freedom of movement without jarring or straining the body. It encourages strengthening of muscles, and due to water’s unique properties, helps alleviate pain and swelling, and stiffness. It allows earlier return to weight bearing activities in a reduced weight bearing environment.

Common conditions treated in the water are:

Fractures Acute back pain Arthritis Osteoporosis
Fibromyalgia Amputation Back and neck pain following auto accidents
Spinal stenosis Post joint reconstruction and replacement
